ওয়েব ডেস্ক : ছুটির দিনে কলকাতার কাছাকাছি কোথাও বেড়াতে যাবেন ভাবছেন? দেখে আসুন মা বোড়াইচণ্ডীর মন্দির। কথিত আছে, চন্দননগরের কাছে বোড়াইচণ্ডীতলায় ৫০০ বছরের পুরনো এই মন্দির প্রতিষ্ঠা করেছিলেন শ্রীমন্ত সওদাগর।সিংহলে আটক বাবাকে মুক্ত করতে এই মন্দির প্রতিষ্ঠা করেন তিনি। ঘরের কাছেই এমন একটি অচেনা জায়গায় এলে ভালো লাগবেই। আবার কম খরচে সপরিবারে ঘুরে আসা যাবে। শতাব্দী প্রাচীন শহর চন্দননগর সম্পর্কে অনেকের জানা থাকলেও বোড়াইচণ্ডী মন্দির এখনও তেমন পরিচিত হয়নি। অথচ, চন্দননগরের নামের সঙ্গে অনেকেই এর যোগসূত্র খুঁজে পান। তাঁদের দাবি, চন্দননগর নামে কোনও জনপদ পরিচিত হও্য়ার আগেই বোড়াইচণ্ডীতলায় তৈরি হয় বোড়াইচণ্ডীর মন্দির।আর এই চণ্ডী নাম থেকেই চন্দননগর নামের উৎপত্তি। কারও মতে, এই জায়গার নাম ছিল চণ্ডীনগর। লোকমুখে কালে কালে এই নাম হয়ে যায় চন্দননগর। অন্য একটি মতে, একসময় এই অঞ্চলে চন্দন কাঠের ব্যবসা-বাণিজ্য হতো। তাই নাম হয় চন্দননগর।আবার জনশ্রুতি আছে, একসময় এখানে গঙ্গা চন্দ্রাকার ছিল। আর তখন নাম ছিল চন্দ্রনগর। পরে সেটাই চন্দননগর হয়ে গিয়েছে।তবে এই অঞ্চলে ফরাসীদের বসবাস থাকার কারণে একসময় নাম ছিল ফরাসডাঙ্গা।
জানা গিয়েছে, চন্দননগরের বোড়াইচণ্ডীতলার এই বোড়াইচণ্ডী মন্দির তৈরি হয় উনবিংশ শতাব্দীতে। আগে এই অঞ্চলের নাম ছিল বোড়ো। বাংলা সাহিত্যের বিপ্রদাস পিপলাই রচিত মনসামঙ্গল কাব্যেও চন্দননগরের অন্তর্গত এই ‘বোড়ো’ অঞ্চলের উল্লেখ রয়েছে। বোড়ো অঞ্চলই পরে হয় বোড়াইচণ্ডীতলা। বোড়াইচণ্ডীতলার এই মন্দিরে প্রায় ৫০০ বছর ধরে মা বোড়াইচণ্ডীর পুজো হয়।মা-দুর্গা রূপেই পুজো করা হয় তাঁকে।মা বোড়াইচণ্ডীর এই মন্দিরটি জোড়বাংলা স্থাপত্য শৈলিতে তৈরি। গর্ভগৃহে চতুর্ভুজা মা বোড়াইচণ্ডীর মূর্তিটি তৈরি নিমকাঠ দিয়ে। যদিও তা অষ্টধাতুর পাত দিয়ে মোড়া। মায়ের চারহাতে শঙ্খ, চক্র, পদ্ম ও ত্রিশূল। অন্যদিকে, পাথরের বোড়াইচণ্ডী মূর্তিটি মন্দিরে সংরক্ষিত আছে। মা বোড়াইচণ্ডীর সামনে রয়েছে দেবাদিদেব মহাদেব। আর মন্দিরের প্রবেশপথে রয়েছে বড়ো নাট মন্দির। প্রতিবছর এই মন্দিরে ধুমধাম করে দুর্গাপুজো হয়। বড়ো উৎসব হয় চৈত্র মাসের নীল পুজোয় ও চড়ক সংক্রান্তিতে।পালা করে নিয়মিত মায়ের পুজো অর্চনা পরিচালনা করেন আট ঘর সেবায়েত। প্রতিদিন সকাল ৬ টা থেকে দুপুর ২টো এবং বিকেলে ৪টে থেকে রাত ১০টা পর্যন্ত মন্দির খোলা থাকে। বোড়াইচন্ডীতলার এই মন্দিরে যেতে হলে চন্দননগরে আসুন। সেখান থেকে লক্ষ্মীগঞ্জ বাজার হয়ে চলে যাওয়া যাবে বোড়াইচণ্ডীতলা।

According to some, this place was called Chandinagar. Over time this name became Chandannagar. According to another, sandalwood was once traded in the region. Hence the name Chandannagar. Again there is a legend, once the Ganga was moon here. And then the name was Chandranagar. Later it became Chandannagar. However, due to the presence of French in this region, it was once called Farasdanga.
It is known that this Boraichandi temple of Boraichandithal in Chandannagar was built in the nineteenth century. Earlier this region was called Bodo. Bengali literature Bipradas Piplai’s poem Mansamangal also mentions this ‘boro’ region under Chandannagar. Boro region later became Borachanditala. Maa Bohaichandi is worshiped in this temple of Bohaichanditla for about 500 years. She is worshiped as Ma-Durga. This temple of Ma Bohaichandi is made in Jorbangla style of architecture. In the sanctum sanctorum, the quadrangular Maa Boraichandi idol is made of neem wood. Although it is wrapped with sheet metal. Conch, chakra, lotus and trishul in mother’s four hands. On the other hand, the stone Boaichandi idol is preserved in the temple. Devadidev Mahadev is in front of Ma Borai Chandi. And at the entrance of the temple there is a large nat temple. Durga Puja is celebrated in this temple every year. The big festival is in the blue puja of Chaitra month and in Charak Sankranti.
